Leccino is a carefully selected variety of Olive tree from Tuscany in Italy
It is a good candidate for cultivation in the UK and possible fruiting
It is hardy, slow growing tree and can be easily clipped into shape, hence it's popularity in the ornamental market
Small white flowers appear in the summer followed by green fruits which turn black when ripe. Leccino is not self fertile so will need another olive tree nearby to produce fruit
Olea europaea ‘Leccino’ is one of the finest producers of high quality dual purpose black olives making premium olive oil and delicous tasting olives.
Tuscan summers are warmer than the UK, but the winters are usually much colder than the UK, so planted in a sheltered warm position in well drained soil amongst other olive trees, will give this tree a really good chance of fruiting.
